On 3 June the Azerbaijan State University of Economics (UNEC) hosted a university-business meeting attended by some thirty entrepreneurs who are members of the National Association of the Business People Society (İCMA).
The visitors first toured the campus, seeing UNEC facilities, lecture rooms, teaching provision and current projects.
A discussion on the prospects for university-business cooperation followed. UNEC rector Adalat Muradov spoke in detail about the degree programmes, the university work and why partnership with business matters.
Tural Mustafayev, chairman of the İCMA Board and founder of Marsol Group, spoke about the part cooperation with education plays in developing the business environment. He described the Career Path from Education to Business project, run by İCMA and Marsol Academy to prepare students for the business world while they are still studying.
The meeting exchanged views on cooperation between universities and business, on students professional development and their entry into the labour market, and answered questions from the floor.
A memorandum of cooperation between İCMA and UNEC was signed at the close. It provides for stronger ties between education and business, joint projects, and wider placement and career opportunities for students.
A commemorative gift was presented to rector Adalat Muradov at the end.
